Baku State University (BSU) hosted a scientific seminar titled “Cultural Heritage and the Digital Information Environment” at the Faculty of Information and Document Management.

The seminar featured a presentation by Associate Professor Nadir Ismayilov, Head of the Department of Document Management, who discussed the role of digital technologies in preserving and promoting cultural heritage.

The presentation highlighted BSU’s efforts in this area, including the establishment of the Cultural Heritage Research Centre last year to conduct research, prepare academic and popular-science publications, and systematize studies on Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage.

The seminar focused on the preservation, protection and digitalization of cultural heritage, as well as the opportunities offered by modern information and communication technologies. It was noted that creating digital copies of manuscripts, rare books, archival documents, museum collections and historical monuments can help protect cultural assets from physical damage, facilitate academic research and make them more accessible to the public.

The presentation also addressed the legal framework for protecting cultural heritage in Azerbaijan.

The seminar concluded with a discussion and exchange of views.
