On 14 October, Florian Sengstschmid, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, met with Jola Hysaj, Director General of the National Tourism Agency of Albania, and Besart Kadia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Albania to Azerbaijan.
The meeting focused on opportunities to implement joint tourism initiatives in 2027, develop transport connectivity between the two countries and increase mutual tourist flows. The parties also discussed promoting their respective destinations, exchanging expertise and strengthening ties between representatives of the tourism industries of both countries.
It should be noted that a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Azerbaijan Tourism Board and the National Tourism Agency of Albania on 21 June 2025. The document establishes a framework for strengthening tourism ties, facilitating the exchange of expertise and promoting both countries’ tourism offerings internationally.
Key areas of cooperation include the development of sustainable tourism, the promotion of year-round travel opportunities, and raising awareness of Azerbaijan’s natural and cultural heritage, as well as Albania’s coastal and historical destinations.
A follow-up visit is planned to discuss these areas of cooperation in greater detail and advance joint initiatives.
