The Golden Age Gym Festival, a Gymnastics for All event, was held in Les Sables-d’Olonne, France, from October 4 to 9.
Hosted by the French Gymnastics Federation, the 10th edition of the festival brought together more than 2,000 participants from 21 countries. Designed for people aged 50 and above, the event aims to promote gymnastics across all age groups, encourage an active lifestyle, and strengthen friendships among participants.
Throughout the festival, participants took part in various workshops, cultural and social activities, as well as performances held at different locations across the city.
Azerbaijan was represented at the festival by the “Flame” team, consisting of Irada Gurbanova, Tatyana Borodina, Yelena Suleymanova, Larisa Maharramova, Vera Knyazeva, Rana Manafova, Sevda Ramazanova, Shohrat Huseynova, Irada Hasanova, Maya Mammadova, Ramiz Gasimov, Almaz Musayeva, Natalya Pavlova, Lyudmila Shiraliyeva, Larisa Lipilina, Sergey Vilimedov, Olga Aliyeva, and Novruz Babayev. Notably, Irada Gurbanova is the head coach of Azerbaijan’s national acrobatic gymnastics team.
The Azerbaijani team presented a performance combining dance and acrobatic elements. The routine, bringing together music and the spirit of different generations, began with the elegant melodies of French classical music, continued with the lively rhythms of ABBA and “Macarena,” and concluded with the modern, energetic sounds of Lady Gaga.
Performed by participants over the age of 50, the routine brought together different eras and musical styles in a single performance, celebrating a passion for life, the joy of movement, and boundless energy.
The Golden Age Gym Festival once again demonstrated that gymnastics is not merely a sport but also an activity that brings people together, promotes a healthy lifestyle, and allows everyone, regardless of age, to experience the joy of movement.
The “Flame” team's performance perfectly reflected the festival’s central message: Times change, but energy has no age!
